Overview
The Marketing and Development Director is a core staff position and member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for leading and implementing a broad range of activities that reflect the organization’s vision, values, brand, and strategic priorities. This role oversees integrated marketing, communications, fundraising, donor stewardship, grant management, volunteer engagement, special events, correspondence, and database management efforts that advance the organization's mission and long-term sustainability.
Working closely with the Executive Director, the Marketing and Development Director develops and executes comprehensive marketing and fundraising strategies that ensure professional, timely, creative, and impactful communications with donors, community partners, volunteers, participants, and the public. The position is responsible for strengthening brand awareness, increasing community engagement, cultivating meaningful donor relationships, and securing financial support through diverse development initiatives.
The Marketing and Development Director supervises and manages administrative staff supporting marketing, development, and grant activities, providing leadership, guidance, and accountability to ensure the effective execution of departmental goals and priorities.
The Marketing and Development Director also provides support to the Lancaster Rec Foundation and its Board of Directors, helping to advance Foundation fundraising goals and community impact.

Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies that elevate brand awareness across multiple channels including social media, email campaigns, and digital advertising.
- Lead fundraising efforts through grant proposal writing, donor engagement, and event planning to secure financial support aligned with organizational goals.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders such as donors, volunteers, community partners, and media outlets to foster ongoing collaboration and support.
- Support the planning, coordination, and management of special events designed to promote visibility and community involvement.
- Utilize CRM software to track donor data, analyze engagement metrics, and inform strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate public relations activities to enhance the organization’s reputation and visibility within the community.
- Implement data collection methods to evaluate program effectiveness, campaign success, and fundraising outcomes for continuous improvement.
- Oversee the creation of compelling proposals and reports that communicate impact to funders and stakeholders effectively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, business, or related field
- 5+ years fundraising/development experience and 2+ years marketing/social media experience (nonprofit preferred)
- Proven experience in nonprofit management with a strong background in marketing, development, or fundraising roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in event planning, digital marketing tools such as WordPress, and social media management.
- Strong skills in proposal writing, grant proposal development, negotiation, and relationship management.
- Familiarity with CRM software and other databases used for data collection and analysis.
- Excellent strategic planning abilities coupled with experience in budgeting, research initiatives, volunteer management, and public relations.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams with enthusiasm while maintaining a detail-oriented approach to project execution.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
