Position Summary
The Activities Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing an ongoing program of recreational, social, spiritual, and therapeutic activities that meet the interests and physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident. This position ensures activities are designed in accordance with resident care plans and comply with facility, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an activities role, preferably in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting
- Certification as an Activity Director (per state requirements) or eligibility to obtain certification within the required timeframe
- Strong knowledge of person-centered activity planning and resident engagement techniques
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Computer proficiency, including experience with activity documentation/EMR software and Microsoft Office
Preferred
- Previous experience as an Activities Director or Assistant Activities Director in a skilled nursing facility
- Knowledge of PointClickCare or similar long-term care documentation systems
- Experience with MDS-related activity assessments and care plan documentation
- Familiarity with dementia-specific and therapeutic recreation programming
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the activities department
- Plan, implement, and evaluate a diverse calendar of individual and group activities for residents of varying cognitive and physical abilities
- Conduct resident activity assessments and develop individualized activity care plans
- Monitor resident participation and adjust programming to meet changing needs and preferences
- Coordinate community outings, entertainment, volunteers, and special events
- Document activity participation and progress notes in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including Nursing and MDS/Care Planning, to support resident well-being
- Communicate with families and residents regarding activity offerings and resident engagement
- Ensure compliance with facility, state, and federal activity program regulations
- Support surveys and audits and provide documentation as needed
- Train and support activities staff and volunteers
- Maintain accurate and organized activity records and supply inventories

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
