JOB Under the general supervision, performs officiating responsibilities at sports events for the Parks and Recreation Division. Responsible for refereeing events for all levels of competition.

- Officiates at sporting events, games, or competitions to maintain standards of play and to ensure that game rules are observed.

Inspects sporting equipment and examine participants in order to ensure compliance with event and safety regulations.

Keeps track of elapsed time during game segments by starting and stopping play when necessary.

Communicates effectively with program participants, parents, spectators, volunteers, and other staff.

Confers with other sports officials, coaches, participants, and other staff in order to provide information, coordinate activities, and discuss problems.

Teaches and explain rules and regulations governing each specific sport.

Provides oversight and coordination with officials for youth sports league play.

Performs pre-game duties to ensure facilities are ready and safe for play.

Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
- High school diploma or GED equivalent OR still attending High School AND an equivalent combination of education and experience.
