Purpose:
Lead the effort to maintain a high standard with regard to employee safety by making it equal to quality, production, cost and morale. Keeping a constant focus on reducing injuries in the facility through accountability, auditing, training, communications, and compliance.
Essential Functions:
- Assist/Coordinate all Environmental, Health and Safety activities in the plant (Hearing Conservation, Hazard Communications, Respiratory Protection, Lift Truck Operator Training, LOTO Procedures, Emergency Response, Evacuation Plan, SWPPP, SPCC, ERP etc.).
- Implement and conduct facility health and safety training requirements per regulatory standards.
- Maintain compliance with corporate environmental, health and safety training policies.
- Insure communication of corporate standards for safe work behavior and environmental compliance.
- Coordinate the generation and reporting of accurate statistical measurements of injuries and illnesses on a monthly basis. · Ensure any industrial hygiene monitoring is completed.
- Provide facility-wide assessments of health and safety performance and report findings to staff and EHS Manager.
- Manage all aspects of OSHA standards Safety system ensuring compliance standards are maintained.
- Conduct environmental monitoring for storm water and sanitary sewers

- Assist with hazardous material training and usage in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Assist Environmental Manager in all aspects of Environmental duties.

Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s in industrial safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Safety Engineering or equivalent
- 5 plus years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably a union environment
- Ability to train others in classroom setting and shop floor environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access).
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrent with day to day activities.
- Perform in a “continuous” (24/7) facility operation. · Strong people and communication skills.
- Background with ISO/QS systems · Auditing skills/experience
- Experience in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental and Health/Workers Compensation
- 5 plus years’ experience in coordinating Health & Safety activities
- Strong background and knowledge in OSHA compliance; familiarity with Code of Federal Regulations- Labor
- Board Certification in safety and/or industrial hygiene
