Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing accounting team. This individual will play a key role in the monthly close process, financial reporting, and maintaining a strong control environment as the company continues to scale. The ideal candidate has a foundation in public accounting (Big 4 or regional CPA firm) and/or prior experience in the biotechnology, life sciences, or pharmaceutical industry.
This position offers excellent visibility across the organization and the opportunity to contribute to process improvements, systems enhancements, and strategic finance initiatives.
Responsibilities
Own key aspects of the month-end and quarter-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses.
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements.
Support annual audits and coordinate with external auditors.
Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting processes.
Assist with technical accounting research and implementation of new accounting standards.
Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Operations, Clinical, and R&D teams on accounting matters.
Support stock compensation, accruals, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and other general ledger activities.
Participate in ERP enhancements, process automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Assist with ad hoc financial reporting and special projects as the company grows.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA license or active pursuit of CPA strongly preferred.
3-6+ years of accounting experience.
Public accounting experience (Big 4 or regional CPA firm) strongly preferred.
Experience within biotechnology, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or another highly regulated industry is a plus.
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
Experience supporting audits and maintaining internal controls.
Proficiency with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics is preferred.
Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
