Pet Store Sales & Customer Service Associate Position Summary
We are seeking a friendly, energetic, and customer-focused individual to join our pet store team. The ideal candidate is passionate about animals, enjoys working with people, and thrives in a fast-paced retail environment. This role focuses heavily on customer service, sales, educating families about animal care, and creating a positive in-store experience for every guest.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers in a professional and welcoming manner
- Build strong relationships with customers by understanding their needs and helping match them with the right pet and products
- Educate customers on animal care, nutrition, training, health, and supplies
- Meet and exceed individual and store sales goals
- Recommend animal products, food, accessories, and wellness items to customers
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of animal areas, play spaces, and sales floor
- Monitor animal health and behavior and report any concerns to management
- Assist with daily care routines including feeding, watering, cleaning, and socialization
- Handle customer questions, concerns, and follow-up communication professionally
- Process sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system
- Support inventory organization and restocking of merchandise
- Ensure all company policies, animal care standards, and safety procedures are followed
Qualifications
- Previous retail, sales, or customer service experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working in a team-oriented environment
- Passion for animals and willingness to learn about animal care
- Ability to multitask and remain organized in a busy environment
- Reliable, punctual, and professional appearance
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods
