Travis County Technology & Operations Department is seeking a Systems Analyst Sr to join the team. This role performs moderately complex to complex computer systems analysis, business intelligence engineering, and data pipeline work. Analyzes user business requirements, maps data workflows, and develops automated reporting and integration solutions to improve Travis County operations. Builds, tests, and maintains modern analytics infrastructure with high autonomy under general supervision.
Distinguishing Characteristics
This classification is the second in a series of two (2) Systems Analyst classifications within the Information Technology job family. Consults with technical team members and business stakeholders to design data solutions, manage automated workflows, and maintain enterprise business intelligence tools. The Systems Analyst Sr specializes in building analytics infrastructure, understanding and leveraging relational databases, resolving data integrity issues, and translating business workflows into modern cloud or on-premise pipeline solutions.
- Data Pipelines & Integrations: Designs, builds, modifies, and implements secure data integration processes using tools like SSIS and Azure Data Factory. Making data available, secure, and scalable is at the core of what we do.

Database Management: Analyzes and understands relational databases, understands the principles of extract/transform/load through the lens of data integrity, troubleshoots complex Transactional SQL (T-SQL) queries, and understands the principles of data governance.

Business Intelligence Infrastructure: Uses reporting tools including Power BI, SSRS, and Power Platform to develop workflows, reports, dashboards, and more broadly “automations”.

Process Automation: Develops alternative workflow solutions and business apps using modern low-code suites like Power Apps and Power Automate.

System Administration: Manages application and gateway administration for live and test environments across Power BI Service and Power Platform environments.

Requirements Gathering: Conducts deep data analysis and confers directly with end-users to gather detailed business requirements for new analytical dashboards and database solutions.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a directly related field AND five (5) years of relevant work experience, including three (3) year of systems analysis and process redesign work;
OR,
Any combination of education and experience that has been achieved and is equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.
Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with SSRS, SSIS, Power BI, Power Automate, Azure Data Factory.
Strong communication skills.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift/carry up to 35-40 pounds occasionally, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment. Subject to standing, sitting, walking, climbing, crawling, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, and squatting to perform the essential functions. Subject to exposure to variations in extreme heat, cold, mechanical, fume/odor, and dust/mites.
Travis County employees play an important role in business continuity. As such, employees can be assigned to business continuity efforts outside of normal job functions.
