Classroom Staff

Reports to Director
Classroom staff perform daily care and education duties, including observation, supervising, and disciplining children. They work with the lead teachers and assistant teachers to ensure the environment remains safe, clean, effective, and compliant for children.
To support lead teachers and assistant teachers with the social, motor, development, academic and personal development of the children of Doniphan Darlings within a safe learning environment.
- As specified daily by program director, lead teacher, or assistant teacher and KDHE regulations.
- Early Child Development knowledge and experience.
- Knowledge of state requirements for center programs.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and priority setting skills to maintain an overall positive and professional attitude.
- Effectively be able to plan, organize and implement educational activities within the classroom.
- Must be able to manage and maintain confidential information.
- Ability to make decisions on behalf of children and protect their well being.
- Other duties, as specified.
- High School Diploma

All employees, regardless of position, serve as role models for children and adolescents who are served by our agency. Therefore, each employee must at all times be emotionally stable and able to function effectively with children, adolescents and adults who may have mental or behavioral health problems. The staff must be able to demonstrate appropriate daily behavior, appropriate expression of emotions, as well as appropriate role modeling. Hostility, aggression and unnecessary or inappropriate physical actions as well as inappropriate emotional expression are not acceptable.
- Must be able to facilitate emergency procedures in regards to children in care.
- Often required to stand and sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat or crawl.
- May require lifting of up to 40 lbs.
- Maintain mental and physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy to perform essential job requirements.
- Responsible for the life-safety of students.
