Construction Project Manager
Nussbaumer & Clarke, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Construction Project Manager to provide comprehensive administration oversight for various local municipalities, Authorities, NYSDOT, NYSTA, NYCC and private infrastructure projects. The Construction Project Manager is responsible for overseeing construction projects from inception through completion. This role ensures projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality standards, building codes, and contractual requirements. The Construction Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and internal teams. This role will report to the Construction Services Manager (CSM) and assist with project oversight and daily coordination of activities with contractors, construction observers, and office engineers/staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer all phases of construction projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, timelines, and work plans.
- Prepare and administer project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and change orders.
- Monitor project progress and resolve issues that may impact cost, quality, or schedule.
- Conduct regular site visits and project meetings.
- Administer procurement of materials and equipment.
- Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Review and approve invoices, progress payments, and project documentation.
- Prepare project status reports for management and clients.
- Administer project closeout, including punch lists, final inspections, warranties, and turnover documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years of experience managing commercial, municipal, infrastructure/highway/bridge construction projects.
· Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
· Experience with project management software such as Auto Desk Forma, Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
· Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites.
- Ability to communicate well verbally and through written correspondence.
- Leadership skills allowing you to direct team members and construction contractors.
- Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to respond quickly to changing priorities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
· Attention to detail and an ability to follow process and procedures.
- Familiarity with construction planning, design inputs, sequencing, execution, and closeout (preferred)
- Experience with Blue Beam (a plus but not required)
Additional Responsibilities
· Assist the CSM in coordination of field work
· Conduct Field Observation of Construction Projects as needed
· Assist with Specifications and contract document review
· Review of vendor and subcontractor bid solicitations.
· Coordinate and track all project plans, budgets, and drawings.
· Processing purchase orders and contracts, change orders, submittals, assisting with project setup and maintenance of project records including project logs, assorted project templates, collecting, and assembling all project close-out documents.
· Regularly review estimated budgets versus actual costs to confirm a project’s profitability.
· Serve as a point of contact for vendors, customers, employees, and the public; expected to be present, friendly, and professional.
· Some administrative tasks which may include meeting minutes, estimating, and RFI tracking.
· Support internal safety committee needs while ensuring corporate safety plans are followed in the field.
