Job Overview
A family owned and operated company hauling building materials for 35 years has an immediate opening for an experienced, full time Fleet Supervisor in the Nashville, TN surrounding area. Responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day transportation operations of a dedicated account, drivers and a fleet of trucks in the local Nashville area. The position is responsible for the effective and successful management of DOT requirements related to the trucks and their drivers. Occasional travel is required and a company vehicle will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Hiring/Training: Assist in driver hiring/paperwork, working with a recruiting specialist and training all incoming drivers.
- Coaching: Responsible to coach and counsel drivers in such areas as safety, performance, productivity and morale. Supervise all activities of drivers.
- Scheduling: Direct and schedule driver's work. Plan, assign, and distribute daily work to while coordinating loads and equipment to achieve maximum utilization of the fleet. Manage GPS telematics and ELD system.
- Dispatching: Manage work assignments. Develop daily delivery plan utilizing equipment, manpower and other resources to ensure an effective, efficient operation. Organize, plan and implement transportation solutions for assigned customers that utilize the best cost option to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.
- Problem Solving: Identify and resolve delivery and scheduling problems through timely communication with customers, drivers, and vendors.
- Administrative: Perform administrative functions to include submitting paperwork for payroll and billing, driver counseling and post-accident reviews. Work with corporate staff to include Operations, HR, Shop Supervisor and Safety Director.
- Safety: Monitor and promote safety and compliance with company policies and federal, state and local regulations in all areas of the operation.
- Maintenance: Coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs as necessary.
- Hands-on Driving & Hauling: Safely operate commercial vehicles to transport building materials to job sites when required (call offs, vacations, etc...).

Job Requirements:
Qualifications & Requirements
- License: Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with a clean driving record and valid medical card.
- Experience: 3+ years of commercial trucking experience and previous supervisory or lead driver experience is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of DOT regulations, load securement, computer skills/Microsoft Office and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., strap loads and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Travel: Travelling for various administrative functions, trainings and safety meetings.
- Must be self motivated and work independently.
