Nurse Practitioner (NP) – Correctional Healthcare Contract Position
Location: Caldwell, OH
Pay Rate: $72 to $75/hour
Schedule: Full-Time | 40 hours/week
Shift: Day Shift
Duration: 3+ month contract with potential extension
Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) licensed to practice in Ohio to provide on-site healthcare services at a correctional facility. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of Nurse Practitioner experience in a primary care, hospital medicine, or similar clinical setting.
This position provides care to the male inmate population and offers a consistent weekday schedule with no evenings, weekends, or holidays required.
Schedule Details

- Flexible scheduling options available:
- Four 10-hour shifts, or
- Five 8-hour shifts
- Start and end times may vary based on facility operations
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic conditions.
- Monitor and manage chronic illnesses following established healthcare policies and protocols.
- Perform physical examinations and evaluate patient health conditions.
- Administer vaccinations and provide preventive healthcare services.
- Prescribe medications and provide appropriate treatments within scope of practice.
- Evaluate patients for specialty referrals and review consultation recommendations.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and diagnostic studies.
- Perform routine and emergency medical care as needed.
- Conduct patient rounds and manage infirmary care when required.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation according to correctional healthcare standards.
- Collaborate with medical leadership and healthcare teams to support quality patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Active Ohio Nurse Practitioner license
- Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) certification
- Minimum 1 year of NP experience in primary care, hospital medicine, or related setting
- Current Healthcare Provider-level BLS/CPR certification
- Board certification required (board-eligible candidates may be considered if clearly noted)
- DEA certification required
