Job Summary
The number one priority for the Maintenance & Custodian position is to provide professional, caring maintenance and janitorial service to residents and staff at the residences and the summit. We do this by striving to provide a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained living environment for everyone who lives or works in any of our communities, including the outside grounds and inside the buildings.
Duties
DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- The daily maintenance of all buildings, including all common areas, office areas, dining and kitchen areas and individual residences.
- The maintenance of mechanical equipment, such as, the heating, cooling & ventilation systems; plumbing, (i.e.) installing & repairing disposals, faucets, garbage disposals, etc.; electrical, and carpentry needs.
- Plans, organizes, develops, directs and provides “hands on” support for the total operation of the maintenance department and housekeeping/janitorial department to ensure the community is maintained in a safe, efficient, attractive and comfortable manner.
- Assist with room setup and take down for functions, (i.e.) transport and setup tables & chairs
- Outside ground upkeep, including shoveling and de-icing sidewalks and entryways.
- On call status Friday-Sunday.
- Sweep or mop hallways in RES and SUM daily and as needed.
- Clean entry ways to RES and SUM daily.
- Dust / polish common area furniture as needed.
- Pick up trash from trash rooms 1/day.
- Clean dumpster enclosures as needed.
- Daily pick up trash on grounds and parking lots, weather permitting.
- Assist with stocking supplies and storage as needed.
- Common area inside window cleaning.
- Assist with other window cleaning projects as needed.
- Assist maintenance technicians with snow removal when necessary.
- Report to work in proper uniform.
- Must always wear a name badge when on duty.
- Wear the required gloves, masks, and/or eye protection when using chemicals or cleaning supplies.
Incident reports must be written for all work-related injuries and immediately reported to Human Recourses. Employees must go the employer’s designated medical center, Concentra Medical Center, for treatment of work-related injuries
Other Duties
STAFF DEVELOPMENT:
- Read, understand, and know what to do in case of fire or other emergency as outlined in the ESC Disaster Preparedness Plan.
- Practice all safety and loss preventions procedures and adhere to universal precautions and all infection control guidelines.
- Other tasks as needed.
- Attend all in-service training sessions and daily department meetings.
RESIDENT RIGHTS:
- Ensure fair & equitable treatment of all residents in matters of the various services offered.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident information.
- Assures that the residents’ rights are always well established and maintained in regard to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights including the right to wage complaints.
Working Conditions/Requirements
- Works in resident’s homes and the common areas throughout the facility and grounds.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- May be required to workdays, weekends, and holidays, depending on staff scheduling.
- Stand/walk for 4-7 hours
- Sit for 1-2 hours
- Lift, Carry, Support, and Assist 65lbs to 75lbs
Educational Requirements
- Highschool Diploma or GED
Pay: $27.50 per hour
Application Question(s):
- This position requires a regular Friday through Sunday work schedule. Additionally, you will be on call for emergency maintenance needs throughout those same days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) to respond to urgent repair requests. Do you have full availability during this weekend block?
