Duties
- Prepare ingredients and components of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Assist in meal preparation, including chopping, slicing, marinating, and portioning food items
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as ovens, mixers, slicers, and fryers
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment to uphold food safety standards
- Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure hygiene and prevent cross-contamination
- Support the kitchen team during service hours by ensuring timely food production and presentation
- Adhere strictly to safety standards in production, including proper knife skills and food safety management practices
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation within a restaurant or food industry setting
- Strong knowledge of dietary department procedures and dietary aide experience is a plus
- Skilled in menu planning, recipe adherence, and meal preparation techniques
- Excellent knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques for various ingredients
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and food handling best practices
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with kitchen staff and support team collaboration
- Catering experience is advantageous for supporting special events or large-scale meal production
