Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machines such as lathe and milling equipment to produce complex metal parts according to specifications.
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to ensure accurate machining.
- Program CNC machines using G-code and M-code languages, including CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software for efficient toolpath generation.
- Perform machine calibration, tooling setup, and adjustments to optimize machining processes for precision and efficiency.
- Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, micrometers, and other measurement tools to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and properly handling machining tools, grinders, power tools, and manual hand tools.
- Collaborate with team members on lean manufacturing initiatives to improve workflow and reduce waste.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as lathes and milling machines in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages including G-code, M-code, and CNC G-code Programming.
- Proficiency in reading mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and understanding GD&T specifications.
- Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks or similar programs for design review.
- Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints accurately and apply measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement instruments.
- Mechanical knowledge of machining tools, tooling setups, grinders, hand tools, power tools, and manual machining techniques.
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, feed rates, speeds, and other machining parameters.
- Experience with CNC quality inspection processes to ensure parts meet strict quality standards.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to optimize production efficiency.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues promptly.
