Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Scheduler to join our healthcare team! Duties
- Schedule patient appointments accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as MedInformatics.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification for upcoming visits, including Medicare and Medicaid.
- Manage appointment changes, cancellations, and rescheduling requests promptly to maintain clinic flow.
- Review medical documentation, orders, and medical records for completeness and accuracy.
- Assist with patient intake processes by collecting necessary information and updating EHR system accordingly.
- Coordinate with providers and staff on daily schedules to optimize appointment slots and reduce wait times.
- Maintain confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations and ensuring secure handling of sensitive health information.
- Provide exceptional patient service via phone and in-person interactions, demonstrating professional phone etiquette and courteous communication.
- Support billing processes through medical collection efforts and accurate CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding for procedures and diagnoses.
- Utilize computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite to generate reports, update records, and manage administrative tasks efficiently.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical scheduling within a healthcare setting, preferably in busy clinics.
- Strong familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks, MedInformatics is essential.
- Knowledge of medical billing procedures including ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, insurance verification, and Medicare guidelines.
- Previous clerical or front desk experience in a medical or dental office environment is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA compliance standards for health information management.
- Strong computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.
- Experience with hospital or healthcare administrative support roles is advantageous but not required.
