Overview
Our electrical contracting company is growing and we are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Electrician to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in both residential and commercial electrical work. This role requires a hands-on leader who can effectively oversee projects, mentor junior electricians, and ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). The Lead Electrician will be responsible for installing and repairing wiring, electrical fixtures, and control equipment for both commercial and residential properties. Excellent customer service skills are a must.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate electrical projects from start to finish, ensuring timely completion and adherence to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine project requirements.
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including wiring, lighting, circuit breakers, and control panels in commercial and residential settings. Ensure compliance with local and national electrical codes and regulations.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete tasks.
- Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostics using ohmmeters and other testing equipment to identify electrical issues.
- Ensure compliance with NEC regulations and safety standards on all job sites. Uphold a strong commitment to safety protocols, promote safe working environment, identify and address potential hazards, and taking corrective actions when required.
- Mentor junior electricians and provide training on best practices in electrical work. Delegate tasks effectively, foster teamwork, and maintain positive work environment.
- Collaborate with other trades on construction sites to ensure seamless project execution.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project progress
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all electrical work meets or exceeds industry standards and customer expectations. Perform regular inspections to verify adherence to safety protocols, quality control, and efficient workflow.
- Customer Service: Interact with clients, addressing their electrical needs and answering inquiries. Deliver exceptional customer service, maintaining professional conduct and fostering positive relationships.
Requirements
- 5+ years experience
- Valid driver's license
- High school diploma/GED required
- Diploma in relevant vocational training or successfully completed apprenticeship as an electrician highly recommended
- Able to work independently or on a team; strong interpersonal communication skills
- Capable of lifting and carrying a minimum of 50 lbs without assistance
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills for electrical installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documents accurately
- Experience in renovation projects within commercial and residential environments
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues effectively
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters, and other relevant equipment safely
