Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
- Monitor residents’ health status by observing vital signs, patient conditions, and behavioral changes; report findings accurately and promptly.
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning, ensuring dietary needs are met for residents with special diets or medical conditions.
- Facilitate resident mobility using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods; assist with ambulation and transfers safely.
- Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and common areas through regular cleaning routines, promoting a hygienic environment.
- Document care activities meticulously, including patient observations, medication administration, and updates to individual care plans.
- Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a warm atmosphere that promotes mental well-being for residents with dementia, Alzheimer’s, or neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Assist with transportation for appointments or outings using personal transportation assistance or community resources.
- Follow all safety protocols including CPR, first aid procedures, and emergency response actions to ensure resident safety at all times.
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, and long-term care practices.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or intellectual disabilities support.
- Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques including vital signs measurement and patient observation strategies.
- Hands-on experience with manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods required for safe mobility assistance.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality is essential.
- Ability to perform caregiving duties involving heavy lifting safely while maintaining proper body mechanics.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration in home & community care settings.
