Our HOA community is seeking a dependable and experienced Lake & Fountain Technician to maintain the health, appearance, and proper operation of all lakes, ponds, fountains, and decorative water features throughout the community.
This position plays a critical role in preserving water quality, maintaining healthy fish habitats, ensuring fountain systems operate efficiently, and providing a clean, attractive environment for residents and guests.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with aquatic chemical treatments, algae control, fish-safe applications, fountain systems, pumps, aerators, and environmental compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Monitor and maintain lakes, ponds, fountains, and decorative water features

Test and balance water quality including pH levels, oxygen levels, algae growth, and chemical treatments

Safely apply approved aquatic chemicals, algaecides, herbicides, and pond treatments without harming fish or wildlife

Maintain healthy fish habitats and monitor fish populations

Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain fountains, pumps, motors, aerators, filtration systems, and irrigation-related water features

Remove debris, algae buildup, and invasive aquatic vegetation

Ensure fountains remain clean, functional, and visually appealing year-round

Maintain accurate records of inspections, treatments, chemical applications, and maintenance schedules

Follow all EPA, state, and local environmental regulations for aquatic chemical applications

Coordinate with outside lake management vendors when specialized treatment is required

Respond to resident concerns regarding water quality, algae, odors, mosquitoes, fish health, or fountain issues

Assist with emergency repairs and storm-related maintenance
Required Skills/Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required
-
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in lake, pond, fountain, irrigation, or aquatic maintenance preferred

Knowledge of aquatic herbicides, algaecides, and fish-safe chemical applications

Experience with fountain pumps, aerators, motors, and water circulation systems

Understanding of fish habitat preservation and water ecosystem balance

Strong attention to safety and environmental compliance

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent
-
Aquatic Pesticide Applicator License - must be obtained within 6 months of employment

Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification and Arizona Department of Agriculture Applicator License.
- If not currently licensed, enroll in the training after 90 days of employment;

Maintain enrollment/training for a period of time not to exceed 2 – 4 years depending on experience;

Complete certifications within 2 – 4 years depending on experience.
