Structural Welder I
Position Summary
Entry-level structural welder responsible for performing basic welding tasks under direct supervision. Works from drawings and instructions to weld structural components safely and efficiently.
Essential Duties

Perform FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, or other approved welding processes on structural steel.

Read basic blueprints and weld symbols.

Prepare materials for welding by grinding, cleaning, and fitting.

Operate welding and cutting equipment safely.

Complete assigned welds according to quality standards.

Maintain tools and work area.

Follow all safety and environmental procedures.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Basic welding training or vocational education.

Ability to pass entry-level welding test.

Basic understanding of measuring tools.
Experience
-
0–2 years of welding experience.
Hours
Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 4:30pm
Overtime may be required.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

1–2 years of structural welding experience in a fabrication shop, manufacturing environment, or construction setting.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings.

Proficient in MIG, Flux-Core (FCAW), and/or Stick (SMAW) welding processes.

Ability to pass a pre-employment welding test.

Basic knowledge of measuring tools, including tape measures, squares, levels, and calipers.

Ability to safely operate grinders, cutting torches, drills, and other fabrication equipment.

Understanding of welding safety practices and OSHA regulations.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work including standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing for extended periods.

Reliable attendance and ability to work overtime as needed.

AWS welding certification or equivalent welding credentials.

Experience welding carbon steel and structural steel components.

Experience working with cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment.

Familiarity with structural steel fabrication and erection standards.

Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 50 pounds.
-
Ability to work in varying temperatures and industrial environments.

Ability to wear required PPE, including welding helmet, respirator (if required), gloves, and safety boots.
