512 Eye is looking for an experienced optician to join our independently owned optometry practice in South Austin. We are searching for someone who enjoys helping patients, works well as part of a team, and takes pride in providing exceptional customer service. This full-time position averages approximately 32 hours per week and offers a consistent weekday schedule with no evenings or weekends.
Schedule
Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: 9:45 AM – 6:00 PM
Wednesday: 9:45 AM – 4:00 PM
Friday: 9:45 AM – 2:00 PM

Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of experience in optical sales or as an optician
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Friendly, dependable, and committed to delivering excellent patient care
- Demonstrate confidence in optical sales and consistently recommend lens enhancements and additional eyewear based on each patient's individual needs
Responsibilities
- Assist patients in selecting frames, lenses, and lens options that best fit their prescription, lifestyle, and budget
- Deliver an exceptional patient experience from start to finish
- Edge lenses, verify prescriptions using a lensometer, and oversee jobs through completion
- Adjust, repair, and troubleshoot eyewear
- Maintain frame inventory and coordinate with frame representatives
- Verify vision and medical insurance benefits, submit claims, and collect payments
- Cross-train to assist with front desk responsibilities, including scheduling and pre-testing, when needed
