Lead Teacher – Early Childhood Education

We are seeking a reliable, professional, energetic, and experienced Lead Teacher to join our growing early childhood education program.
We currently operate a successful home-based childcare program and are preparing for the opening of our first childcare center in Yonkers, NY. This is an exciting stage of growth for our organization, and we are looking for someone who wants to grow with us and potentially take on greater leadership responsibilities as our program expands.
Schedule & Availability
Our program operates Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Candidates must have full-time availability within our operating hours and must be dependable and flexible with scheduling based on the needs of the program.
Position Responsibilities
As a Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for the overall organization, leadership, and daily operation of your classroom.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage the daily operation of the assigned classroom.
- Create a safe, nurturing, organized, and engaging learning environment.
- Implement age-appropriate lesson plans, educational activities, and daily routines.
- Actively interact, teach, play, and engage with children throughout the day.
- Supervise and provide direction to Assistant Teachers and other classroom staff.
- Ensure classroom staff understand and follow daily routines and responsibilities.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and properly prepared classroom.
- Observe children’s development and maintain appropriate classroom documentation.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents and families.
- Maintain accurate attendance, incident, and other required records.
- Follow all health, safety, licensing, and program policies.
- Communicate effectively with the Director and management team.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.
- Take initiative and help resolve classroom issues proactively.
- Arrive consistently on time, prepared, and ready to lead the classroom.

A Lead Teacher at our program is expected to lead by example and take ownership of the classroom rather than waiting to be told what needs to be done.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience working in a daycare, childcare center, preschool, or early childhood education program required.
- Previous Lead Teacher or classroom leadership experience strongly preferred.
- CDA, Early Childhood Education coursework, Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or related credentials are preferred.
- Must be able to meet all applicable New York State childcare employment and background-clearance requirements.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish REQUIRED
