About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Boom Truck Operator to join our team in St. Charles, MO. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a boom truck to lift, move, and place materials at job sites, while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a boom truck to lift, position, and transport materials, equipment, and loads at job sites
- Conduct pre-operation inspections of the boom truck, including hydraulic systems, cables, rigging, and safety devices
- Read and interpret load charts to determine safe lifting capacities based on boom angle, radius, and load weight
- Communicate effectively with ground crew, riggers, and signal persons during lifting operations
- Perform routine maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues or malfunctions
- Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety guidelines and procedures
- Maintain accurate logs of daily operations, inspections, and maintenance
- Transport the boom truck to and from job sites in compliance with DOT regulations
- Assist with rigging and load securement as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Willing to travel to various job sites as required
Required Qualifications
- NCCO Certification (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) required
- Class B CDL (Commercial Driver's License) required
- Rigging and Signal Person Certification required
- Proven experience operating boom trucks or similar mobile cranes
- Strong understanding of load charts, rigging principles, and crane safety standards
- Ability to read and interpret operating manuals, load charts, and site plans
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Clean driving record and ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications
- Class A CDL preferred
- Prior experience in construction, utility, or industrial settings
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb, bend, and work at heights as required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, with occasional weekends and overtime as needed
