Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers on over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Navigate using GPS systems to follow designated routes efficiently and accurately
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, ensuring proper cargo securing for hazardous materials or dangerous goods when applicable
- Deliver freight to various destinations, managing delivery schedules and maintaining communication with dispatch teams for route adjustments
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking for hazardous materials regulations compliance when transporting dangerous goods
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, and delivery records in accordance with FMCSA regulations
- Assist with truck loading/unloading processes, ensuring proper handling of logistics cargo and adherence to safety protocols
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a valid CDL A license
- Hands-on experience with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or other specialized trucking equipment
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time tracking
- Knowledge of hazardous materials regulations (Hazmat) and safe handling procedures for dangerous goods
- Demonstrated ability to load & unload freight efficiently while following safety guidelines
- Experience in delivery driving across diverse routes including local, regional, or over-the-road (OTR) routes
- Strong understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and hazardous materials regulations
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and handle truck loading/unloading tasks effectively
