Position Overview
Big Bamboo is looking for a dependable and organized Expo / Host to support front-of-house operations and help keep service running smoothly.
This is a hybrid support position. The primary responsibilities include greeting and seating guests, managing takeout orders, maintaining the host area, supporting food running and order accuracy, and assisting servers with bussing and table resets when needed.
During high-volume periods, management may take over primary expo responsibilities so the Host can continue focusing on guests, seating, takeout, and front-of-house flow.
This position is ideal for someone who is friendly, detail-oriented, comfortable multitasking, and able to stay organized in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests promptly and professionally.
- Manage the waitlist and seating rotation.
- Seat guests according to restaurant procedures.
- Answer basic guest questions about the restaurant and menu.
- Answer restaurant phone calls professionally.
- Take and process takeout orders accurately.
- Organize and prepare takeout orders for pickup.
- Verify takeout orders for accuracy before giving them to guests.
- Ask a manager for assistance whenever there is uncertainty about an order.
- Communicate with servers, bartenders, kitchen staff, and management regarding guest needs and order status.
- Assist with food running and expo-related responsibilities when needed.
- Check food and takeout orders for missing or incorrect items.
- Help keep food moving efficiently from the kitchen to the dining room.
- Bus and reset tables when servers are busy.
- Help maintain smooth table turnover during busy periods.
- Keep the host stand clean, organized, and presentable.
- Sweep and maintain the host area and surrounding entrance.
- Help maintain cleanliness of the patio when applicable.
- Keep host-station trash emptied and organized.
- Keep takeout supplies, bags, containers, utensils, napkins, and other materials stocked.
- Help maintain restaurant music and guest-area presentation when assigned.
- Assist with general front-of-house cleanliness.
- Complete all assigned opening, closing, and side-work responsibilities.
- Attend required pre-shift meetings and arrive prepared and on time.

Qualifications
- Restaurant, hosting, takeout, or customer-service experience preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable answering phones and speaking with guests.
- Ability to stay organized during high-volume periods.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry restaurant supplies, takeout orders, dishes, and similar items.
- Evening and weekend availability preferred.

New employees will receive training covering:
