Position Summary
The Guest Experience Team Member is responsible for creating an exceptional experience for every guest from the moment they walk through our doors until they leave with their order.
This position combines cashier responsibilities with front-of-house operations, order accuracy, hospitality, and cleanliness. You'll be the face of Tanya Jo's and play a key role in keeping service running smoothly during every shift.
Responsibilities
- Greet every guest with a friendly, welcoming attitude
- Assist guests with menu questions and recommendations
- Deliver outstanding customer service throughout each interaction
- Handle guest concerns professionally and respectfully
- Build relationships with returning customers
Cash Handling & POS
- Accurately take customer orders
- Process cash, credit card, and digital payments
- Operate the Square POS system efficiently
- Balance cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift
- Maintain accurate transactions and receipts
Expo & Order Accuracy
- Coordinate with the kitchen during service
- Verify every order for accuracy before handing it to guests
- Package dine-in, takeout, and delivery orders
- Ensure sauces, utensils, napkins, and beverages are included
- Call completed orders clearly and professionally
Front of House Operations
- Keep the front counter clean and organized
- Restock beverages, sauces, cups, lids, napkins, and supplies
- Clean dining room tables and guest areas throughout service
- Maintain beverage station and condiment area
- Assist with opening and closing duties
Teamwork
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff
- Support teammates during busy periods
- Help with light food prep when needed
- Complete assigned cleaning tasks
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant or cashier experience preferred
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable and punctual
- Positive attitude with a team-first mentality
- Basic math and cash handling skills
- Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy
- Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Physical Requirements
- Stand for extended periods
- Lift up to 30 pounds
- Bend, reach, and move throughout the restaurant
- Work in a fast-paced environment during lunch and dinner rushes
