PART-TIME MECHANIC ASSISTANT
Pay: $16/hr+ Depending on Expereince
Job Summary: The Part-Time Mechanic Assistant supports shop mechanics with daily maintenance and repair operations by assisting with basic mechanical tasks, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and helping ensure equipment and tools are properly handled and maintained. This position plays an important role in supporting efficient shop operations and promoting a safe workplace. The following duties are typical for this job. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist mechanics with equipment inspections, maintenance, and repair tasks.
- Gather and organize tools, parts, and materials needed for repair jobs.
- Clean and maintain shop areas, workstations, and equipment.
- Wash equipment, vehicles, and tools as needed.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and moving parts and equipment.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks under supervision.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management or shop supervisors.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Dependable with good attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and shop equipment preferred.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety practices.
Education and Experience Qualifications:
- Previous shop, mechanical, maintenance, or labor experience preferred but not required.
- Valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift for extended periods of time.
- Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and typical shop conditions.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
- Ability to climb in and around equipment and vehicles as needed.
