American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with CVOR experience for a full-time day shift position at a hospital in Louisville, KY.

Hospital-based CVOR unit supporting cardiovascular open heart surgical cases
-
Department supports a Cardiovascular Open Heart Recovery unit (5 beds) and a CVICU (7 beds) providing post-op and ongoing critical care for cardiac surgery patients
-
Day shift schedule, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 40 hours per week

14-week contract

Minimum of 1 year of experience as a scrub tech, or completion of an accredited surgical tech program
-
Completion of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited Surgical Tech program, or a Surgical Technologist program through the U.S. Armed Forces
-
BLS certification required
-
One of the following certifications required: NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C)

License required if applicable

Strong clinical knowledge of OR procedures, instrumentation, and equipment
-
Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment

Works under the direct supervision of an RN in the operating room environment

Responsibilities include scrubbing in on CVOR cases, maintaining sterile fields, and managing sutures, supplies, and instrumentation
-
Actively participates in time-out procedures, specimen handling, and instrument/sponge counts per policy
-
Labels all solutions and medications before transfer to the sterile field
-
Assists with room turnover, cleaning between cases, stocking, and supporting the central sterile area

Reports broken or unusable instruments or equipment to the nurse leader
-
May be asked to precept peers or students as needed

Prior critical care or open-heart experience is preferred
