Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Entry-Level Ammonia Refrigeration Technician to join our maintenance team. This position is ideal for individuals interested in developing a career in industrial refrigeration. Under the guidance of experienced technicians, you will assist in the operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of warehouse systems while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily operation and monitoring of industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Perform routine inspections of compressors, evaporators, condensers, pumps, valves, and related equipment.
- Support preventive maintenance activities according to established schedules.
- Identify and report equipment abnormalities, leaks, and operational issues.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection records, and work orders.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and Process Safety Management (PSM) procedures.
- Participate in emergency response training and ammonia safety drills.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe mechanical room and work environment.
- Assist senior technicians with troubleshooting and equipment repairs.
- Participate in on-call rotations as assigned after completing required training.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Mechanical aptitude with a willingness to learn industrial refrigeration systems.
- Ability to work safely around industrial equipment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and work orders.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying temperatures, including cold environments.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces when required.
Preferred
- Previous maintenance, manufacturing, or mechanical experience.
- Basic knowledge of pumps, motors, electrical controls, or refrigeration systems.
Work Environment
- Exposure to refrigerated environments, machinery, noise, and cold conditions.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- May be required to work overtime, weekends, holidays, or respond to emergency calls.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb.
- Lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Distinguish equipment sounds and respond to alarms.
