Position Purpose:
The primary purpose of this position is to utilize the Agie Charmilles Wire and Sinker EDMs to plan, lay out, and execute complex machining operations; fabricate and assemble various types and sizes of product parts, tooling, and assemblies; and perform jig and fixture work to support production needs.
Principal Duties:
- Operates both an Agie Charmilles Cut 300 SP Wire EDM and Agie Charmilles FO 350 SP Sinker EDM
- Loads, secures, and aligns workpieces, fixtures, and tooling
- Fabricates electrodes for use and measures electrode dimensions for wear on Sinker EDM
- Creates, edits, and optimizes Wire EDM programs using CAM software or the machine's AC CUT HMI control
- Maintains both EDMs, including, but not limited to, cleaning, replacing wear components, verifying filtration levels, and preparing dielectric oil system
- Utilizes other types of manual and CNC computerized machine shop equipment (lathes, mills, jig borers, and precision grinders) to perform machining operations on all types of materials including but not limited to ferrous and nonferrous metals, nonmetallic materials, their alloys, and synthetic materials
- Works from and in accordance with specifications and design criteria including but not limited to verbal instructions, drawings, and blueprints; performs standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, speeds, and feeds of machining
- Uses a wide variety of precision measuring instruments; maintains accurate dimensional tolerances based upon drawings
- Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping
- Fabricates complicated parts having many interrelated dimensions, compound angles, irregular surfaces, coordinate and exacting tolerances requiring the layout of parts, the selection and use of hand tools, and/or the setup, programming and operation of various machine tools
- Plans proper sequence of tasks to compete the assignment and improvises production aides as necessary to facilitate operations
- Reworks production parts or assemblies and machine tooling as required; checks each component for accuracy
- Suggests changes in design involving producibility and process of manufacture to proper staff
- Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems
- Maintains inventory of completed products
- Maintains a clean and organized work area and maintains all equipment according to maintenance plans and established procedures
- Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a professional manner in order to get along with customers, clients, coworkers and management
- Ensures that safe work practices are followed and adhered to
- Performs other duties as assigned by manager
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Apprenticeship or vocational training
- Four to six years EDM machining experience or equivalent
- Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of industry, machinery, and techniques
- Knowledge of proper use of measuring tools/gauges and cutting tools
- Understanding of blueprints, routers, and geometric tolerances
- Excellent communication, basic math and basic computer skills
- Commitment to excellence and high standards
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills coupled with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
- Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to understand any and all safety requirements and cautions
- Ability to perform the physical labor necessary, i.e., can lift up to 50 lbs. and perform repetitive tasks
- Maintains a safe working environment by working smartly and efficiently

- Available for overtime including Saturdays as required
Pay Rate and Benefits:
