Position Overview
The ideal candidate will bring 3–4 years of accounting experience—preferably within an accounting firm or business-services environment—and will be responsible for performing comprehensive monthly accounting functions for a diverse portfolio of clients.
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- Master's Degree in Accounting or related field preferred
- CPA License (Active Tennessee-based) preferred
Professional Experience
- Managing full-cycle accounting for 5 to 6 clients per month, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Recording financial transactions, posting entries, and maintaining a complete, organized set of business records.
- Preparing, self-reviewing, and finalizing financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Performing bank reconciliations, as well as reconciling sales tax, payroll tax, and 401(k) accounts.
- Completing adjusting journal entries to ensure accuracy and alignment with supporting documentation.
- Processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor payments, payroll, and ad hoc checks with precision and confidentiality.
- Utilizing QuickBooks Online for day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll processing, and financial reporting.
- Monitoring financial activity and producing timely, accurate reports for internal review and client delivery.
- Collaborating effectively with other accountants and business professionals to support client needs and resolve discrepancies.
- Communicating proactively with clients regarding required documentation and deadlines to ensure smooth monthly bookkeeping workflows.
- Reporting to the Direct Supervisor and providing complete, accurate workpapers and financial packages for review.
- Upholding professional standards when interacting with clients, vendors, and internal teams while protecting sensitive information.

- Technical Expertise: Full-cycle accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, month/quarter/year-end close, GAAP compliance
- Software Proficiency: QuickBooks Online, Excel, ERP/accounting software, payroll and tax systems
- Analytical Skills: Budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial data review, process improvement
- Communication: Client and team collaboration, reporting, explaining financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Attention to Detail: Accurate transaction recording, error detection, organized record-keeping
- Ethics & Confidentiality: Handling sensitive financial data, compliance, professional integrity
Key Responsibilities
- Record financial transactions and complete the posting process.
- Works with 5 to 6 clients/ month.
- Reconcile sales taxes, payroll taxes, 401k, and bank accounts at the end of each month.
- Monitor financial transactions and reports.
- Enter Adjusting Journal Entries with Supporting Documentation
- Complete Financial Statements and Balance Sheet for 20-40 clients/month.
- Process accounts receivable and payable.
- Process vendor, payroll and other ad hoc checks.
- Understand general and subsidiary ledgers.
- Work with a team of accountants and business professionals when necessary.
- Maintain and record a complete and systematic set of business transactions.
- Reports to the accounting manager and provides all reports for review.
- Inform clients of important paperwork and documentation needed to complete monthly bookkeeping needs.
- Ability to close the books for the end of the month/quarter/annual
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited four-year university required
- Master’s degree and/or CPA license preferred
- Professional demeanor in handling various stakeholders (clients, vendors, fellow employees, and other outside parties)
- Minimum 3-4 years of accounting experience, preferably within a business-services environment.
- Able to prepare, review and understand financial statements, balance sheet, and income statements.
- Knowledge of QuickBooks Online accounting software.
- Professional experience working with confidential and sensitive information.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Attention to detail and accuracy of work.
- Experience managing business paperwork and accounting for a large company.
- Professional understanding of the best accounting strategies and advanced computer skills (including excel and other Microsoft products)
