JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a driven, relationship-oriented Contractor Sales Representative to join our growing team. In this role, you will be the face of Attica Lumber to local general contractors, home builders, and post-frame/pole-barn crews across our 15-county service area. Your primary objective is to manage and expand our builder accounts, acting as a trusted advisor from the initial blueprint take-off to the final job site delivery.
Key Responsibilities: Account Management & Local Growth
- Relationship Building: Serve as the primary point of contact for an existing portfolio of area contractors, ensuring they receive the premium service Attica Lumber is known for.
- Field Business Development: Actively prospect for new builder and contractor accounts through local networking, cold calls, and frequent job site visits across northwest Ohio.
- Consultative Estimating: Work closely with builders to understand their project timelines, helping them source everything from framing lumber and OSB to custom metal roofing and siding.
Project Take-Offs & Order Management
- Blueprint Estimation: Read and interpret construction drawings to perform accurate material take-offs and comprehensive package bids (with a strong focus on post-frame/pole barn structures and residential builds).
- Truss & Component Coordination: Collaborate with our internal teams to coordinate custom truss quotes and building package delivery schedules.
- Logistics Ownership: Track orders from the yard to the field, ensuring materials arrive at the job site on time and in full, proactively resolving any supply or delivery issues.
Qualifications & SkillsExperience
- Required: 2–5 years of business-to-business (B2B) sales experience, preferably within the building materials, lumberyard, or construction industry.
- Preferred: A solid understanding of post-frame (pole barn) construction design and materials. Hands-on experience in the trades is a major plus.
Technical & Core Skills
- Blueprint Literacy: Ability to confidently read and estimate from architectural plans, structural drawings, and framing layouts.
- Math & Margin Aptitude: Strong basic math skills for calculating linear/square footage, volume, and gross profit margins.
Work Environment & Compensation
- The Environment: A dynamic split between the Attica office/yard and the field. You will spend significant time on active, rural, and residential construction sites.
- Compensation: Competitive base salary paired with an uncapped commission structure based on sales volume and gross margin.

Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour
