Position Summary
Out of a Jam is seeking a passionate, organized, and mission-driven Feeding Fort Wayne Kids Coordinator to lead and expand our youth nutrition and culinary education programming throughout Allen County. This individual is responsible for the coordination, facilitation, and growth of the Feeding Fort Wayne Kids and Shop, Cook and Eat initiatives, helping youth and women develop life skills through hands-on cooking, nutrition education, and mentorship opportunities. The Coordinator will oversee program logistics, community partnerships, volunteer engagement, curriculum development and support, participant tracking, and classroom facilitation while helping advance Out Of A Jam’s mission to feed, nourish, and transform lives. This role plays a critical part in empowering youth, strengthening families, and creating positive long-term impact throughout the community.
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination & Facilitation
- Coordinate and facilitate Feeding Fort Wayne Kids and Shop, Cook and Eat programming at multiple community and school partner locations
- Lead engaging hands-on cooking, nutrition, and food education classes for youth participants
- Create a safe, welcoming, and encouraging environment that promotes confidence, teamwork, and personal growth
- Adapt lessons and activities to meet the needs of diverse student populations and learning styles
- Ensure all programming reflects the mission, values, and standards of Out Of A Jam
Community Partnerships & Outreach
- Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, churches, after-school programs, and community organizations
- Coordinate scheduling, communication, and logistics with partner sites
- Identify opportunities to expand programming into new schools and neighborhoods
- Serve as a professional and positive representative of Out Of A Jam throughout the community
Volunteer Engagement & Support
- Recruit, schedule, train, and support volunteers participating in Feeding Fort Wayne Kids programming
- Collaborate with the volunteer initiative to strengthen mentorship and classroom support opportunities
- Foster a positive and mission-focused volunteer culture rooted in service and encouragement
- Ensure volunteers feel equipped, appreciated, and connected to the mission Program Development & Evaluation
- Support curriculum planning and ongoing program improvements
- Track attendance, participation, evaluations, and program outcomes
- Assist with grant reporting, storytelling, and impact reporting for organizational leadership and funders
Budget & Resource Management
- Develop and manage the program budget, ensuring efficient use of resources
- Secure and manage donations of food and in-kind services
- Collaborate with leadership to pursue grants and other funding opportunities Event & Organizational Support
- Assist with special events, outreach initiatives, and community engagement opportunities
- Collaborate with Feeding Fort Wayne meal distribution efforts and other organizational programs when appropriate
- Participate in community meetings, networking opportunities, and partner events representing Out Of A Jam Preferred
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, youth development, nutrition, nonprofit management, public health, or related field preferred, or related work experience
- Experience working with youth in educational, nonprofit, ministry, or community-based environments
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
- Experience coordinating volunteers and community partnerships preferred
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and program tracking systems
- Basic knowledge of nutrition, healthy lifestyles, and food preparation preferred
- Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for events and programming
- A heart for service and alignment with the faith-based mission of Out Of A Jam
Work Environment
- Mix of office, kitchen, and field environments (driving to donor and partner locations required)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a classroom, kitchen and hands-on environment
- Reliable transportation required
Compensation
- Based on experience
- Benefits include PTO, holidays, and flexible scheduling
- Full-time (40 hours/week)
- Monday - Friday, flexible hours that include some evenings and occasional weekend
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
