Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks with manual transmission across designated routes, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts, ensuring proper securement for transport.
- Navigate using GPS systems to optimize routes while maintaining compliance with hazardous materials regulations when transporting dangerous goods.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns.
- Deliver freight efficiently to various locations, including refrigerated goods, flatbed cargo, tanker loads, or roll-off containers, ensuring timely arrivals.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in compliance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery statuses, or any incidents encountered during transit.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a valid CDL A license and a clean driving record.
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission trucks and specialized equipment such as forklifts or dump trucks.
- Knowledge of logistics cargo handling procedures for freight including hazardous materials and dangerous goods.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation tools for route planning and real-time traffic updates.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) safety standards.
