Job Summary: The Employee Health Nurse at Watsonville Community Hospital is a Registered Nurse responsible for providing direct and indirect nursing care to the staff, focusing on occupational health. This role emphasizes promoting employee health and safety, managing communicable diseases, and ensuring compliance with health protocols. The nurse will conduct health screenings, monitor work-related injuries, and provide counseling on health issues, all while maintaining confidentiality and advocating for employee wellness.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect nursing care for Watsonville Community Hospital staff.
- Collaborate with Infection Prevention to control communicable diseases.
- Promote Employee Health and Safety, Ergonomics.
- Perform pre-employment and annual health screenings.
- Monitor employee work-related illness and injury trends.
- Perform bloodborne pathogen exposure assessments and follow-ups.
- Participate in preventative screening programs and immunizations.
- Document employee visits accurately in the EMR system
- Counsel employees on physical and mental health issues.
- Act as an advocate for employees in preventative health measures.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) License in California.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or required within 3 years of hire.
- 2-3 years of nursing experience preferred, with at least 1 year in emergency, outpatient services, occupational health, or public health.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, Ergonomics, Workers Compensation, and OSHA guidelines.
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) preferred.
