Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, stoves, ovens, and food processors
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the kitchen, including proper food handling and storage practices
- Assist with meal preparation for various service periods, ensuring timely delivery of quality food
- Support menu planning efforts by preparing ingredients in advance and suggesting improvements based on culinary experience
- Collaborate closely with kitchen staff to coordinate food production and ensure smooth operations during busy hours
- Follow all safety standards in food production, including proper knife skills and slicing techniques to prevent accidents
Experience
- Previous food service experience in a restaurant or catering setting is highly preferred
- Experience working within dietary departments or dietary aide roles is a plus
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and adherence to safety standards in production environments
- Familiarity with food industry best practices for handling, storing, and preparing meals
- Strong communication skills for effective coordination with kitchen staff and team members
- Proven ability to follow recipes accurately while maintaining consistency in meal preparation
- Experience with menu planning, cooking techniques, and catering operations is advantageous
