The Junior Heavy Equipment Mechanic supports the maintenance and repair of construction and earthmoving equipment. This entry-level role works under the supervision of senior mechanic to ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently on job sites and in shop environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in performing routine maintenance on heavy equipment (oil changes, greasing, filter replacements)
- Help diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
- Inspect equipment to identify wear, damage, or safety concerns
- Repair or replace parts such as hoses, belts, brakes, and components
- Maintain accurate service and repair records
- Clean and organize tools, equipment, and work areas
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
- Support field service operations when needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Technical training in diesel or heavy equipment mechanics (preferred)
- Basic knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus)
- Ability to lift heavy equipment parts and work in various weather conditions
