Position Summary
The Laboratory Operations Technician supports the daily operations of the laboratory by managing specimen intake, laboratory logistics, inventory, shipping, customer support, and quality processes. The position also provides support for waived and low-complexity laboratory testing after appropriate training and competency assessment.
Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and accession patient specimens.
- Perform specimen quality checks and ensure proper documentation.
- Enter specimen information accurately into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Prepare and ship specimen collection kits to clients.
- Track incoming and outgoing shipments and resolve delivery issues.
- Manage laboratory inventory and maintain adequate supply levels.
- Order laboratory supplies and coordinate with vendors.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Assist with laboratory quality assurance and compliance activities.
- Provide customer and technical support related to specimen collection kits and shipments.
- Assist with waived and low-complexity laboratory testing following training.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
- Perform additional laboratory operations duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
- Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Biology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Healthcare, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable using computers and learning new software systems.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
Preferred
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification.
- Experience working in a clinical laboratory.
- Experience with LIMS software.
- Experience with specimen processing or laboratory accessioning.
- Familiarity with CLIA quality standards.
- Experience with shipping, inventory, or procurement.

Compensation
$20.00–$24.00 per hour, depending on experience.
