American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of Med/Tele experience and NIHSS certification.

Work in the ADTU and satellite Med-Surg/Tele units, including 6CD, 3K, 5A, 3L, and 1T
-
Care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses such as COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF exacerbation, falls, MVC injuries, PE, DVT, UTI, pneumothorax, GI bleeds, and CVA
-
RN patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8 on 6CD

12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
-
Weekend rotation every other weekend
-
No on-call requirements
-
Floating required within assigned region and scope of practice to other network facilities as needed

Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
-
No dedicated tele tech; primary nurse responsible for telemetry interpretation each shift

Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
-
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required

Experience in Level I Trauma and teaching hospital settings preferred
-
Skills required include cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, foley insertion, and PCA pump use
-
Experience managing medication drips including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids required

Epic EMR experience required

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

Provide direct patient care in a collaborative unit supported by CNAs, secretaries, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists

Work within a close-knit, family-like unit culture

Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
-
Up to 6 RTO days may be approved, excluding holidays, with contract extension required if hours are not met

Navy blue scrubs required

First-time travelers not preferred but may be considered

Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel positions

Previous employees must be separated from any Advocate Health Southeast facility for at least 1 year after a permanent position before reapplying
