The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that material mined in the open pits at Robinson is characterized and classified properly and delivered to the correct destination. This is accomplished by following the procedures and standards in place for optimal ore control. The Production Geologist will map all blast hole patterns, log the blast hole cuttings, and conduct detailed geologic mapping of the high-walls in all the various laybacks in the active pits. The Production Geologist will work closely with mill and mining personnel to determine metallurgic characteristics of the ore and ensure proper routing for blending and mill deliveries. Finally, the Production Geologist will assist in collecting monthly samples required by the Environmental department for compliance with our operating permits.

Work safely by respecting all Robinson Nevada Mining Company (RNMC) and Mine Safety and Health Administration standards.

Log all production blast holes and map all pertinent geologic features present in blast hole patterns and on high-walls.

Conduct the entry of field data, including but not limited to blast hole mapping and high wall mapping, into current databases.

Perform all necessary Ore Control tasks including; data entry, generation of daily maps, ore and waste cut generation, updating the AXIS/MinePlan ore control model as necessary, and related Mine to Mill communication.

Export mining cuts to Terrain.

Assist in managing ore stockpiles needed for metallurgical blending.

Implement digital mapping systems and improved geological workflows for greater efficiency.
Perform additional duties as needed to support the success of Robinson Nevada Mining Company and KGHM.

Education: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience: Three to five years’ experience in mining geology, either surface or underground.

Licenses: Valid driver’s license.

Education: Master’s Degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience with MinePlan and AutoCad.

Working knowledge of AXIS/MinePlan, and AcQuire.

Experience with resource modeling.

Fundamental understanding of Economic Geology.

Identification of rocks and minerals.

Complete understanding of Excel and other MS office programs.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Working knowledge of MinePlan, AutoCAD, or other drafting software.

Proficiency in Leapfrog, AcQuire, Deswik, SGS, ERSI, Drone Flight for 3D modeling and resource targeting.

Occasionally travel may be required.

The production geologists supervises and mentors two geologic technicians.

Successful completion of a pre-employment physical, including drug and alcohol testing.

Ability to meet the required physical demands, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
