We’re looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA! Reporting to the GrayMatter Accounting Manager (or delegate), the Staff Accountant is responsible for performing general accounting in areas requiring judgment and ongoing collaboration with other departments to source relevant data, understand business drivers that cause variances to expectations and communicate the results of financial analyses.
Responsibilities:
- Independently performing general accounting activities for the monthly financial statement closing processes
- Preparing journal entries for accounting transactions and producing related reports and analyses
- Completing bank and key account reconciliations
- Reviewing corporate credit card and employee expense reports
- Preparing customer billings
- Maintaining compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for accounting transactions and financial statement presentation
- Interacting with internal teams daily regarding accounting transactions and to ensure accurate and on-time orders, billings, payments and receipts
- Utilizing D365 general ledger modules and reporting tools
- Sharing requested data with external auditors and tax advisors for the annual audit and tax returns
- Contributing to the accounting for acquired businesses associated with the company’s acquisition activity
This is a hybrid working position based in Pittsburgh, PA to facilitate occasional in-office collaboration.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 1 to 3 years of accounting experience
- Previous experience as a staff accountant is preferred
- Professional Services industry and project/contract accounting experience is a plus
- Excellent computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of GAAP standards and practices
- Experience with Microsoft D365 is a plus
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to multi-task across different accounting-related projects and activities
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively across the organization
- Ability to work independently
