This role serves as the single point of accountability between USMAPPS and the Primary Care Business Unit, owning access strategy, payer marketing, and brand-level contracting and pricing strategy across the full Primary Care portfolio. The role drives and owns outcomes, integrating all USMAPPS capabilities into one coherent access plan that directly supports the Primary Care BU President and franchise leads. The VP is expected to operate at full strategic weight, lead a team aligned to Primary Care brands and franchise clusters, and be the single person accountable the Primary Care BU holds accountable for market access results.
The Vice President, US Market Access Lead – Primary Care reports directly to the Senior Vice President of US Market Access & Pfizer Patient Services (USMAPPS) with a dotted line to the Primary Care BU President. This position requires close partnership with the Primary Care BU President, franchise leads, Strategic Contracting & Analytics, Strategic Account Management, the Patient Services, and USMAPPS leadership. The role sits on the Primary Care BU leadership team and on the USMAPPS Leadership Team.
1. Primary Care Access Strategy Ownership
Develop and maintain a fully integrated brand market access plan for all Primary Care brands, covering payer marketing, contracting strategy, and pricing strategy in one coherent plan
Define and monitor access performance metrics at the brand and portfolio level, including access quality, access speed, GTN performance, and launch readiness
Proactively adjust access plans in response to external environment shifts, including IRA drug pricing dynamics, 340B evolution, PBM-payer consolidation, and formulary changes
2. BU Partnership & Representation
Represent Primary Care BU access needs back into USMAPPS leadership, escalating resource gaps, strategic misalignment, or unresolved cross-functional tensions
Identify and close access readiness gaps, including payer coverage, specialty pharmacy pull-through, reimbursement pathways, and formulary positioning, aligned to brand archetype and launch objectives
4. Cross-Functional Orchestration
Coordinate all USMAPPS functional support across access marketing, contracting strategy, pharmacy engagement, Strategic Account Management, and Patient Services before engaging the Primary Care BU, ensuring the BU receives a single, integrated access perspective
5. Team Leadership & Talent
Accountable for coaching, developing, and engaging direct reports, in addition to recruitment and selection of staff
Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
15+ years of experience in the healthcare sector, including demonstrated success in market access, payer strategy, or brand-level access roles
Deep understanding of the US healthcare environment, including payer dynamics, formulary mechanics, GTN economics, and the distinct access requirements across brand lifecycle stages
Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated brand market access plans, including payer marketing, pricing strategy, and contracting strategy
Proven track record of operating at a senior leadership level, with the ability to lead a team, own outcomes, and serve as a credible enterprise partner to senior BU leadership
Ability to integrate across multiple functional capabilities (access marketing, contracting, account management, patient services) and present a unified access perspective to the BU
Familiarity with IRA implications, 340B dynamics, and other policy-driven access considerations relevant to a large, diversified pharmaceutical portfolio

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $300,100.00 to $500,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 30.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
