Why does the job exist?
The Senior Accountant will:
Invoice and collect from other state agencies, counties, and schools for services rendered;
Track invoices and collections by program;
Reconcile monthly and prepare year end Accounts Receivable (AR) accruals when necessary;
Perform cashier duties and act as a backup to other AR staff as needed.
How does it get done?
The Senior Accountant is responsible for:
Processing monthly, quarterly and yearly invoices using Microsoft Word and Excel;
Tracking all accounts receivable activity;
Posting entries through SHARE journal entries;
Performing collection activities for outstanding balances;
Communicating with other Health Care Authority (HCA) staff and clients/ customers related to each program invoiced;
Working closely with The New Mexico State Treasurer's Office (STO), Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), and Wells Fargo Bank.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or Business Administration and two (2) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance, and/or budgeting. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Must obtain a Defensive driving certification.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
