We’re looking for a pharmacy cashier who has the drive for running a pharmacy smoothly — and for impressing patients with extraordinary care. As a member of our dynamic team, this person will support the pharmacist on duty as well as the physicians and clinicians who treat patients. From answering phones to assisting patients with their pickup, the pharmacy cashier will play a valuable role in helping our pharmacy operate successfully.
Many of the people you’ll communicate with in your role as pharmacy cashier will be unwell or vulnerable. Given that, it’s extra important to consider whether you’ll be able to provide warm, considerate, and empathetic care in response to difficult circumstances or challenging behaviors.
The people who will find the role of pharmacy cashier most rewarding tend to be compassionate by nature and have a strong desire to help others.
You will also need strong communication and organizational skills – given the importance of the patients you will assist in picking up their medication.
Responsibilities:
- Answering customer queries about pricing, refund policies, gift cards, etc.
- Understanding customers needs
- Registering sales and returns on a cash register by scanning and itemizing items and totaling customers’ purchases
- Issuing receipts, refunds, or exchanges
- Cross-selling and upselling products
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic math and computer skills
- Experience as a cashier is desirable
- Customer service experience is desirable
- Ability to handle a high volume of transactions
- Polite and courteous
- Strong communication skills
- Familiarity with cash desk equipment, such as point-of-sale (POS) machines, scanners, cash drawers, etc., is desirable
- Alert and attentive to details
- Ability to work in a team and follow instructions
- Ability to pass a drug test and background check
