Description/Job Summary:
Harvey Fertilizer and Gas Company is looking for a Truck Driver to deliver dry and/or liquid fertilizer, crop protectants, lime and other treatment products, deliver agronomy products. This position requires the ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, work with customers in a safe manner that maximizes departmental effectiveness, respond to management direction and complete tasks in a timely manner or notify the appropriate person with an alternate plan, able to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and is a team player with safety mindset. This position will be located in Farmville, NC.
Qualifications:
- High school or equivalent
- Class A CDL
- Hazmat and tanker endorsements preferred but not required
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work extended hours to meet business demand
- Perform warehouse work to including driving loader, forklift, mechanics, and maintenance
- Pick up and deliver product to customers as needed
- Ability to communicate with customers in a professional manner
- Lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
Key Responsibilities for Truck Driver Position at Morgan Fertilizer:
- Transport Fertilizer, chemicals, and Seed: Safely and efficiently haul both fertilizer, limes, chemicals (Including hazardous materials) and various types of agricultural products to and from designated locations.
- Vehicle Operation: Operate and maintain heavy-duty trucks or trailers, ensuring the vehicle is in good working condition and suitable for transporting both bulk fertilizer and other freight.
- Load and Unload Freight: Assist with loading and unloading products, using equipment such as forklift and unloading docks, ensuring proper handling and care of all items.
- Cargo Inspection: Inspect all loads before departure to ensure they are secured and properly loaded to prevent damage or loss during transit.
- Maintain Safety Standards: Ensure compliance with all relevant safety guidelines, local, state, and federal transportation regulations, and the company’s safety protocols for both bulk fertilizer and freight transportation.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate delivery logs, including details of loads, destinations, times, and any issues encountered during transportation. Ensure documentation is submitted in a timely manner.
- Truck Maintenance: Perform routine vehicle inspections to check tire pressure, oil levels, brakes, and other critical components. Report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
- Customer Service: Interact with clients, farm managers, freight handlers, and other stakeholders in a professional manner to ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries.
- Adherence to Schedules: Manage routes and ensure timely deliveries of both grain and freight, adjusting to weather or road conditions as needed.
