We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. - Assist with accounts payable and receivable management, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections using software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage.
- Perform data entry tasks with precision, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger updates aligned with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing balance sheet reconciliations and verifying account accuracy through detailed account analysis.
- Help maintain compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls by documenting procedures and supporting internal audits.
- Manage payroll processing using systems like ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro while ensuring accuracy in employee hours, deductions, and tax filings.
- Contribute to budgeting activities and financial reporting by compiling relevant data and assisting with variance analysis.
- Collaborate with the finance team on special projects related to governmental accounting standards or non-profit accounting requirements.
- Previous experience in an accounting support role within a corporate or governmental setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar platforms is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, account reconciliation, and balance sheet management is essential.
- Exposure to payroll management systems like ADP or Paychex along with experience in accounts payable/receivable processes is advantageous.
- Understanding of GAAP standards and SOX compliance requirements will set candidates apart.
- Strong math skills combined with attention to detail for accurate data entry and account analysis are critical for success in this role.
