Responsibilities
- Operate cash registers and POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately to process retail sales transactions, including cash handling and basic math calculations.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries or demos.
- Stock shelves and merchandise displays efficiently, ensuring products are well-organized and replenished regularly.
- Maintain store security by monitoring CCTV surveillance, conducting visual inspections, and managing access points to prevent theft or unauthorized entry.
- Handle cash drawer operations with precision, balancing registers at shift end and adhering to cash handling procedures.
- Upsell products by engaging customers with product knowledge and suggesting additional items to enhance their shopping experience.
- Enforce store policies on phone etiquette, safety protocols, and merchandising standards to uphold a professional environment.
Skills
- Proven experience with POS systems, cashiering, and retail sales transactions.
- Strong communication skills in both bilingual (if applicable) and English to effectively interact with diverse customers.
- Supervising experience is a plus for overseeing team activities during shifts or assisting in training new staff.
- Ability to perform retail math accurately for cash handling and sales calculations.
- Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising techniques, and grocery store operations enhances performance.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude, active listening, and problem-solving abilities.
