American Traveler is hiring an experienced Psychiatric-Geriatric RN for a Night Shift position requiring an active NH or compact RN license and prior psychiatric nursing experience.

Work on the Geropsychiatric Unit within a hospital setting

Care for a geriatric psychiatric patient population

Night shift schedule from 7p-7a
-
13-week assignment length

Defined workweek runs Sunday 12:01am through the following Saturday 11:59pm

Active NH or compact RN license required
-
Current BLS certification required
-
Minimum 3 years of nursing experience required

Associate's degree or diploma from a 3-year nursing program required, Bachelor's degree preferred

Medical terminology knowledge required

Strong mathematical, analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required

Perform comprehensive nursing care including assessing, monitoring, recording, and reporting changes in patient conditions
-
Conduct mental and physical assessments and administer medications and treatments per physician orders
-
Manage therapeutic milieu activities including daily groups, education sessions, and 1:1 patient interactions

Develop and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team

Coordinate with physicians, treatment team members, and outside health and social agencies
-
Provide efficient discharge planning and obtain accurate patient histories at admission
-
Complete timely documentation including admission paperwork, assessments, progress notes, and discharge paperwork
-
Adhere to therapeutic standards and measure health outcomes against patient care goals and regulatory standards
