,THIS IS AN ENTRY-LEVEL POSITION IN THE FIELD OF SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS. THIS POSITION IS FROM 10 PM TO 7 AM. PLEASE READ THE JOB DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY BEFORE APPLYING.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee will:
- See to the comfort and safety of the client who is detoxing.
- Observe and document all activities of the client every 30 minutes.
- See to it that a “Progress Summary” is written at the end of the shift.
- Represent Empire Recovery Center (ERC) in a professional and ethical manner.
- Be responsible for maintaining a clean, quiet, and comfortable area for an individual to detoxify from alcohol and or drugs.
- Make sure that the clients are resting comfortably
- Ensure that snacks and water are available
- If a client needs medical attention, contact the non-emergency number and document everything.
- Assure the detox office and closet are maintained and organized.
- Assure that all house laundry (kitchen, cleaning towels, and linens) is laundered.
- Start laundry at the beginning of your shift. Complete before 6 AM.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Director or Assistant Director.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Employee will:
- Have a demonstrated ability to work well with other employees and program participants.
- Have one year of experience with detox residents in a detoxification unit or
- the equivalent experience.
- Have knowledge of detoxification procedures.
- Have filing and record-keeping skills.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent, preferably an A.A. or B.A. degree in addiction studies or similar discipline as an alcohol and drug counselor.
- Be registered with an approved California certification agency and obtain the required education and supervised work experience as required by CCR, Title 9, Division 4, Chapter 8, and the Mental Health & Substance Use Disorder Services Information Notice 16-058, and abide by the California Code Of Conduct for SUD Counselors.
- Have knowledge of available community programs.
- Have current CPR and First Aid.
- Provide Health records including a health screening report or health questionnaire and tuberculosis test results as required.
- Participate in safety and injury training and follow agency safety rules.
- Comply with agency contractual requirements, including authorization for provisional clearance and background check.
- If a recovering person, you must have 2 years of continuous recovery and be active in a 12-step program, or the equivalent, to assure his/her growth in recovery and to improve one’s ability to work with people with substance use disorders.
POSITION HOURS:
The hours are determined by the Executive Director or Residential Director This shift is from 10 PM to 7 AM with a one-hour lunch break. The employee will be flexible with their time and will be on shift until relieved by another staff member.
