Duties
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, caulking, and applying primer to ensure optimal paint adhesion and finish quality
- Apply paint, stain, varnish, and other coatings using brushes, rollers, airless sprayers, or power tools to achieve smooth, even coverage
- Read blueprints and schematics to accurately interpret project specifications and color schemes based on color theory principles
- Perform drywall finishing, plastering, stucco application, and restoration work to repair or enhance existing surfaces
- Execute trim carpentry, fixture installation, and basic carpentry tasks such as framing and renovation work as needed
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently for surface preparation and finishing touches
- Conduct maintenance tasks including caulking, masonry repairs, concrete finishing, welding, and industrial painting when required
- Assist with remodeling projects by providing skilled craftsmanship in masonry, masonry repairs, or framing as part of comprehensive renovation efforts
- Follow schematics and blueprints precisely while maintaining safety standards across construction sites
Skills
- Extensive experience in residential painting with knowledge of commercial painting practices
- Strong understanding of construction estimating processes for project planning and material procurement
- Proficiency in color theory to select appropriate hues and finishes that complement client preferences
- Skilled in using hand tools such as putty knives, scrapers, brushes, rollers; familiar with power tools including spray guns and sanders
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics accurately for precise application of paint schemes and renovation details
- Knowledge of plastering techniques, stucco application, caulking methods, and restoration processes for surface durability
- Experience with construction site safety protocols and working within remodeling or renovation environments
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to paint coverage or material quantities
- Familiarity with fixture installation including lighting fixtures or hardware during remodeling projects
- Handyman experience that includes maintenance tasks like drywall repair or masonry work is a plus
