Join our team as an After School Athletic Counselor at Blue Lake Elementary, where you will inspire and energize children through engaging sports and recreational activities! You will be expected to create, implement, and lead groups of children (ages 5-12) in safe and fun physical games and activities. <Duties>
- Lead and supervise children during sports, games, and physical activities, ensuring all participants are engaged and safe.
- Implement age-appropriate athletic programs that promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical fitness.
- Manage student behavior using positive behavior management techniques to maintain a respectful and inclusive environment.
- Provide first aid when necessary and respond promptly to any injuries or emergencies following safety protocols.
- Collaborate with counselors, parents, and other staff to support children’s social-emotional well-being and developmental needs.
- Assist with setting up activity spaces, organizing equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Incorporate elements of childhood development principles and special education strategies to accommodate diverse needs.
<Requirements>
- Experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp counseling, tutoring, babysitting, or similar environments.
- Knowledge of sports and outdoor activities, classroom management techniques, and behavior management strategies.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred; willingness to obtain if not already certified.
- Background in sports coaching, theater arts, or early childhood education is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage children of various ages.
- Demonstrated experience with childhood development principles and special education accommodations.
- Ability to maintain safety standards and supervision expectations of the School District of Palm Beach County.
